In Conversation with George F. Will
On everything from the Scottish Enlightenment to Hungarian politics, not forgetting the future of the American republic.
In this video, I join the great George Will for a wide-ranging conversation recorded at the 2026 George F. Will Award ceremony in Washington, D.C. The occasion was my receiving the George F. Will Award for the Advancement of Liberty and the Free Society.
The award, presented by George and Mitch Daniels on April 13, 2026, honors original thinkers who have made exceptional contributions to public understanding of individual liberty, constitutional order, markets, and the rule of law.
In this conversation, George and I discuss the ideas and institutions that sustain free societies — from the legacies of the Scottish Enlightenment to the fiscal and geopolitical challenges of the present day.
About the George F. Will Award
Inspired by Liberty Fund founder Pierre F. Goodrich, the award is named for George F. Will and recognizes individuals whose work deepens our understanding of the free society, individual liberty, and the human condition. Past honorees include Gordon Wood (2024) and Richard A. Epstein (2025).
